Spring is here, and the time has come to get your favourite picnic basket and blanket and head out for a picnic with family and friends.

We’ve created a list of favourite picnic places for you to enjoy*

Brisbane

For stunning views across mountains and magnificent bushland, you can’t go past Jolly’s Lookout in the Moreton Bay region. See the Moreton Bay website here for a comprehensive list of superb picnic spots with a variety of views and environments to choose from.

Canberra

If you’d like that chance to see some wildlife whilst you are having a spot of lunch then head to Tidbinbilla, located on the edge of Namadgi National Park. Or if you would like to conjure up a zen moment, head to Japanese inspired Canberra Nara Peace Park.

Adelaide

For lush parkland surrounding head to the Mount Lofty Botanical Gardens, or if you prefer something a little more adventurous (and secluded) for your picnic, why not try the Jetty Pylons at Port Willunga.

Perth

Kings Park, west of Perth, is great for access to children’s playground and excellent BBQ facilities. Or if you prefer to go a little closer to the water, head to Walyunga National Park on the banks of the Swan River.

Sydney

Head to Centennial Parklands for gorgeous park views and a variety of nature-inspired activities for the kids such as ‘Bush School’. Or if you would like a little dip after your picnic, try Clifton Gardens in Mossman. It’s home to several beaches, parkland, wharves and is a popular fishing spot in summer.

Melbourne

If you’re in Melbourne, we understand COVID restrictions may impact your ability to go out for a picnic. Just remember if you can’t travel to the picnic spots we have suggested below, going to a local park still has essential physical and mental benefits for you (check out the benefits here) and will get you out of the house for a change of scenery.

However, if you can travel within metro Melbourne, try any of these three picnic spots. Fairfield Boathouse, Williamstown Botanic Gardens or if you would like to get a little exercise at the same time try One Tree Hill which is up the top of the famed 1,000 steps (which is only 770 steps) but don’t tell anyone!
