The best part about Autumn? When the weather gets cooler, snuggling up inside with a coffee feels so satisfying. Of course, it’s easy to find a little cosy time at home: a nice hot drink in your favourite mug and a special Kez’s Kitchen snack (our Coffee Break Bundle will keep you stocked up!).

But sometimes you need a change of scenery as well as that warm and fuzzy feeling. Luckily, we have a list of the cosiest Autumn coffee spots. Whether you’re going solo with a good book or meeting friends for brunch, these cafes are perfect for escaping the chill in the most comfy way possible.

Melbourne
The Dispensary

When a hot coffee is just what the doctor ordered to shake off the autumn chill, head to The Dispensary. This cute little St Kilda cafe in a converted pharmacy that has your daily caffeine-and-cosy prescription. Bare bulbs, rustic furniture and vintage pharmacy ads decorating the walls make it a fun, quirky spot to meet up with friends. With Gluten Free menu items and a counter full of freshly baked goods, there’ll be something for everyone here. Or just stop by when you need some ‘me time’ and sit in with a latte and a hot toastie (all available Gluten Free).

Sydney
Cafe Free
You don’t need hot weather to enjoy the bay! Cafe Free in Neutral Bay is a Coeliac Friendly spot that’s worth making a trip for. Their menu caters for every diet, including Gluten Free, Vegan, Lactose Free and Dairy Free. Start your day right with their house muesli and fruit - or treat yourself to Nutella waffles for a special breakfast. At lunchtime, they offer everything from a wholesome grilled chicken Mexican salad to their famous Gluten Free fish and chips, and they have a full kiddy menu of ‘little meals’. Of course, on an Autumn day it will be hard to resist a decadent hot chocolate to warm you up from the inside...

Adelaide
Mister Pigeon

Pet friendly, Vegan Friendly, Gluten Free friendly: Mister Pigeon is so friendly, it just feels like a warm hug. This community-focused cafe is a local favourite, a cosy oasis on a tree-lined street that’s perfect for getting out of the wind and snuggling up to a cuppa. This trendy little cafe has all the home comfort of a living room, right down to the books and repurposed lamps from Nanna’s house. Their wholesome soup of the day will banish any chill, and their gourmet toasties will keep you coming back all year ‘round.

Perth
Bodhi Tree Bookstore Cafe

When the weather outside is chilly, nothing feels cosier than curling up with a good book. With their selection of uplifting and inspiring books and a wholesome health-focused menu, Bodhi Tree is the perfect nourishment for body and soul. They’re an allergy-aware cafe and use only fair trade, organic coffee, and free range, sustainable produce for their breakfast and lunch menu. Browse the bookshelves for your next great read, then stop in for afternoon tea and enjoy home-made cakes and sweet and savoury snacks.

Brisbane
Kettle and Tin

What could be cosier than that homey feeling of, well, an actual home? This cafe might be a trendy little Paddington number, but just step inside Kettle and Tin and you feel immediately welcome - especially since they can customise their menu items for a variety of dietary requirements. Cosy up to a big breaky burger, try the classic avocado toast or enjoy a simple gourmet coffee and cake in this converted Queenslander. They’re also open in the evening, if you fancy making some wine and cheese plans with friends!

Canberra
Penny University Cafe

This warm little nook is inspired by the coffee houses of 17th century London - places for catching up with friends and chatting about the news of the day. Rustic, friendly, and casual, this is the perfect spot for a special brunch with friends - banoffee croissant french toast, anyone? Enjoy all-day menu items with an Asian twist, such as miso baked salmon or the poke bowl, or something more hearty, like a spiced eggplant ragout. Or just take a book and relax with a specialty coffee, roasted fresh in-house.

Hobart
Jackman and McRoss

A charming, old world bakery in Hobart’s historic Battery Point that’s a perfect snuggly retreat from those chilly southern winds. Decorative pots and pans hang from the ceiling, giving it a homey kitchen feel. Glass-fronted cabinets and shelves are stuffed with baked goods and seasonal specials, plus a cafe menu featuring fresh, local produce. They have Gluten Free and Vegan options, both sweet and savoury, so you can settle in at a window seat for a pleasant afternoon of people-watching. Afterwards, take a stroll through the neighbourhood and take in the beautifully restored cottages from Hobart’s early history.
