Take a trip with your girlfriends

Grab your luggage ladies it’s time to take a trip with your girlfriends!

Get your besties together and head off for a relaxing and fun girls’ getaway. If you need an excuse to hang out with your peeps (we don’t!) then rest assured, there is now scientific proof that says you might just be doing you, your family and work colleagues a favour by heading for the hills with your gal pals.

Here’s the scoop… scientists have found that having strong social relationships are associated with increased odds of survival, so it turns out friends can extend your life and make you more trusting, generous and friendlier.

To celebrate these fabulous findings, we have collated this list of gal getaways to get you rewired with a bit of fun and relaxation to boot!

Sydney

Base yourself at the Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains. Schedule a couple of ‘must do things’ like hiking the Clifftop walking track, followed by a high tea, spa and dinner at Leura Garage at night.

Hit Manly up for its excellent beach vibes, cool pubs and bars and cool food scene. Don’t miss signing up for a surf lesson, lunch at the pub and shopping down the Corso. Don’t forget ice cream at the ferry depot and we suggest dropping in to eat at The Pantry or Garfish for delicious local fare.

Melbourne

Sorrento is so sweet, your pals will love, love, love it! Book a day at the Peninsula Hot Springs for the ultimate relaxation experience. Be sure to avoid the crowds and book the Spa Dreaming house section where guests need to be 16+ years old. Have lunch in your dressing gowns together at the Spa Dreaming café.

For a brilliant CBD staycation head to ‘Notel’ with vintage airstream vans that sit on a building rooftop. Outdoor spas and well stocked mini bars will help create the fun vibes. Try Supernormal for dinner followed by Expresso Martinis at The Lui Bar. We all know that the day will be spent shopping at any number of Melbourne fab stores and boutiques.

Brisbane

Head for the hills with your best mates and explore the Hinterland. Spend a day doing a gourmet food trail experience which will take you from Samford, through Dayboro to Mount Mee. One day is a great way to get your bearings and give yourself a taste of what each township has to offer so you can fine-tune the rest of your girls’ trip.

Or why not ham it up in the Gold Coast with a decadent stay at Palazzo Versace, laze by the pool and then sashay to Nero in Broadbeach for dinner. Complete your trip with a decadent spa at Q1.

Adelaide

The Adelaide Hills wine region is the perfect spot for great vines, views and cuisine. In the heart of the hills lies Mount Lofty House, a designer boutique hotel famous for luxury escapes, three hat dining and indulgent day spa experiences.

The quaint German inspired town of Hahndorf is also a great way to while away the day strolling through providores, cafes, homeware stores and coffee houses.

Tasmania

Why not stay down by Sullivans Cove, where there’s plenty of choice, and a great selection of bars and restaurants along Salamanca. Try and plan being there on a Saturday morning for the fabulous Salamanca market.

Perth

This destination has a lot of diverse options to choose from. Rottnest is just a hop, skip and ferry ride away and offers secluded beaches with crystal clear waters, long walks and bike rides.

Why not head to Fremantle, as there’s no better place to escape to than the fair port city—accessible by train, traversable by bike and bordered by the river and the ocean? Head to the Tradewinds, where you can swap your daily grind for river views and a standalone bathtub. Bunk in with the girls and order one of their bar carts—espresso martinis and negronis all round! If you do venture out, you’re around the corner from George Street where there’s a bunch of seriously good places to eat including Ari and Esmay and George Street Quarters.

Wherever you go, don’t forget to stop, relax and unpack the meaning of life with the girls over a glass of wine or three as the sun sets over the ocean, bushland or vineyards—you won’t forget it.
