Now that spring is here, it’s time to start channelling your inner Marie Kondo to get the bathroom organised and refreshed.
Start with sorting your bathroom 'stuff'. Did you know that things found in the bathroom, like makeup and hair products have a use by date? So, first things first, remove all products including brushes, perfumes, sprays, hair clips and all other 'stuff’ from the cabinets and drawers in your bathroom.
Using an old clean, dry sock (you can put your hand in it and get into all of those hard to get at corners) wipe the dust from the drawers and cabinets. Then using a damp cloth to remove any excess dust, dirt or makeup residue.
Now sort out your products. Set up a recycling box, a friend box and a to keep box. Go through each of the products and make sure they are still within their use by date and are still useful. If you have a perfume that you don't like or a particular hair product that doesn't work for you, consider passing it on to a friend. Once you have recycled, donated to a friend, or kept your bathroom products, now it’s time to organise.
Get all of your everyday products together and organise them into vessels and drawers that are the most easily accessible. For example, the easily accessible places should have deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and the basic make up kit that you utilise each day. As you move to the second and third drawers or the harder to reach parts of the cabinet, place items that you may use less frequently like waxing kits or first aid stuff.
We like to store bathroom products in small baskets or trays. You can find some brilliant accessories for your bathroom in K-mart (check out their bamboo tray inserts) or Howards storage World for uber cool custom bathroom organising accessories. You can also add some hooks to the wall or inside cabinets for things like hair irons and hair dryers.
Now that your bathroom is fresh and organised, light some candles, put on your favourite podcast and take a nice hot bath, you deserve it!
