Embrace winter for the fun of it

There is no better way to enjoy the winter than to embrace the cold and get to the snow. Here is our guide to the best snow escapes for you and your family.

New South Wales

Need some serious fun with the family. Head to Selwyn Snow Resort it is located 45km or 30 minutes’ drive from Adaminaby in the northern part of the Kosciuszko National Park in the Snowy Mountains.

Selwyn offers lots of great options to enjoy the snow with ski lessons, tobogganing and snow tubing.   Stay in Adaminaby for the best value accommodation and access to Mt Selwyn.


For the quintessential snow experience head to the township of Bright for delicious food and heaps of accommodation options. Using Bright as a base, you can go up the mountain to Hotham.

Enjoy Hotham’s great snow fantastic ski runs and don’t miss out on the regions beautiful food and wine.


For a touch of luxury Cradle Mountain lodge in beautiful Tasmania. You might not get the snow adventure, but you will get magnificent views of snow-capped peaks, luxury accommodation and superb food.

Pack your hiking boots for some beautiful walks through the bush and discover the local waterfalls.

Ice Skating

As you know finding good snowfalls in Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland is not possible and travelling for a snow trip can be a bit expensive. So for some fun on the ice, be a bit creative and head to an ice skating rink.  Hire some skates for the family and try your luck on the ice, some ice skating rinks even offer lessons to novices.

Winter is a beautiful time to rug up and enjoy the outdoors, and if you can get to one of these great snow destinations it will just add to the fun you can have!
