Happy Tummies Healthy Mind

For us, eating and happiness goes hand in hand. After a busy day, that warm cup of tea or square of chocolate can provide a world of comfort. And, the best part is, it's not just your taste buds that benefit from the occasional treat - our science buddies have proven that certain foods can actually make a real difference to your happiness.

In our kitchen, balance is the word. Not only is it ok to treat yourself from time to time, we think it's essential. So, when you're craving a little moment of bliss, throw that guilt out the window and remember that a little treat can benefit your mental wellbeing (the smart people said so!)

Here are some of our favourite foods that double as both a delicious treat and a mood booster:

Chocolate
Cocoa is packed with antioxidants and magnesium, which can fight fatigue and help reduce stress, depression, and irritability. And, if that wasn't enough, it also contains the exact same chemical that causes that euphoric feeling we get when we're in love... swoon!

Nuts
Despite what the 90s might have told us, healthy fats are your friend, not foe! And in particular, the combo of unsaturated fats and vitamin E found in nuts can promote a happier, better functioning brain. So get crunching!

Coconut
With healthy medium chain fats and other important nutrients, coconut is one of the ultimate feel-good foods. In fact, even the scent of coconut has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety and lower blood pressure. Time for a tropical getaway? We think so!

Time to get treaty?
